Also at the Chantry, during the afternoon, acclaimed storyteller Simon Heywood will be arriving from his home town of Sheffield to present, for adults and children aged 12 and over, his evocative show Out of the Silence. This story of the conscientious objectors, based on first-hand accounts, letters and diaries of the Great War, includes original songs composed and sung by an old friend of the Gathering, Shonaleigh. Making a welcome return to Morpeth, Shonaleigh was the town’s Storyteller in Residence some years back. Parents will be thrilled to know she will be appearing at the library later in the afternoon to tell some tales for children.
