East Anglian Storytelling Festival – Stowmarket
Thrilling stories from skilled national, regional and local storytellers including Shonaleigh, John Row, Taffy Thomas OBE, Amy Douglas, and Karin Lundengård – much more to come!
Once again, festival goers will be able to enjoy the picturesque surroundings of the Food Museum in Stowmarket, while they listen to stories told live, mouth to mouth, heart to heart, rediscover an ancient folk tradition and find out that nobody is too old to enjoy a good story.
Shonaleigh will be telling the Petal Demon and Heartwood.
We’ll have music and lots of activities for families and children. A selected few people will get the chance to stay overnight in the starlit meadows of the Museum, discover the night wildlife, and dawn breaking over the ancient buildings.
This year we are working with tales from the community: our storytellers include some leading tradition bearers from all over the country and of course the voices of the local community and stories from the region: there will be a space for everybody’s voice to be heard.
Friday and Saturday evenings feature tales for grownups and young adults, while the Saturday and Sunday daytime programme has plenty for families to enjoy. Our early bird discount won’t last forever – so get your ticket early!
Shonaleigh is one of the featured tellers this year; she will also present the winner of the Step Up Commission, Karin Lundengård, with her exceptional new storytelling piece: When the Water Turns Blue.
