The House of the West Wind: College of Storytelling is delighted to announce our summer lecture event for 2026.
Tales from the Green World brings together storytellers whose work is rooted in the living world of plants, folklore and landscape.
We will share stories, insights and conversation about the deep relationship between human beings and the trees, plants and flowers around us.
Expect a panel discussion followed by Q&A with the audience.

THE PANEL
Xanthe Gresham Knight is a writer and internation
al storyteller with particular interests in goddesses, healing plants and world mythology. She is the author of Herba Mythica: The Myths and Folktales of Sacred Healing Plants and Goddesses and Heroines, and is Artistic Director of GuestHouse Storytellers in Newhaven.
Amanda Edmiston (Botanica Fabula) is a herbal storyteller, author and interdisciplinary practitioner who has been sharing her unique blend of storytelling and plant medicine across the UK and internationally for over 16 years. Her first book The Time Traveller’s Herbal, published by David and Charles, weaves folklore, fairy tale, myth and social history with the science embedded in plant traditions. Her second book Collected Curiosities is due out June 2026.
Lisa Schneidau is a storyteller, author and environmentalist based in Devon, specialising in traditional stories about land, sea and sky. She trained as an ecologist and spent twenty five years working with wildlife charities to restore nature across Britain, and is the author of Botanical Folk Tales, Woodland Folk Tales and River Folk Tales of Britain and Ireland, all published by The History Press.
Claire Mace is a storyteller and creative producer based in North Wales, whose repertoire spans Welsh mythology, Celtic folk tradition and the living stories of the plant world. As Projects Director of the House of the West Wind: College of Storytelling, she creates spaces that storytellers can discuss their craft and the living traditions our stories grow from. Claire will chair the discussion.
