Word Dancing: Creative Writing and Narrative Arts
At long last, Shonaleigh is making her return to in-person teaching with Word Dancing, a five-day accredited course taught alongside Simon Heywood, which uses the Drut’syla’s methods to bridge the gap between oral and written storytelling. More information about the course can be found here.
Taking place just after Get a Word in Edgeways (GaWiE) Festival of the Spoken Word and just before Festival at the Edge, it is no more than a 35 minute drive from either. We are also partnered with GaWiE this year, meaning you can get 20% off your ticket if you book onto Word Dancing.
Word Dancing will be taught in the historic market town of Ludlow, Shropshire, in a Grade II-listed townhouse built in 1713 with gorgeous views of Ludlow Castle from the upper floors.
Ludlow is a stone’s throw from the Shropshire Hills, Mortimer Forest, and the River Teme which offers about half a mile of free fishing as well as picturesque walks. It’s also within easy driving distance of the National Trust’s Croft Ambrey Castle and Berrington Hall, Wigmore Castle, Clun Castle, Stokesay Castle, Wenlock Priory, and the Severn Valley Railway.
Word Dancing is priced at £450. This does not include accommodation or catering, although Ludlow has a wide range of hotels, B&Bs, self-catered cottages and caravan sites. If you are driving from outside the town, there is a public car park 2 minutes’ walk from the house.
Please note the house does not have ground floor bathrooms.
