Art of storytelling

SHONALEIGH Cumbers is one of the foremost storytellers on the British scene and has been described as ‘a modern day Shaharazad’.

On Friday, May 16 she returns to the Story Café at Bridport Arts Centre with Pandora’s Box, bringing the power of her storytelling and vivid use of imagery and music to this series of intertwined tales.

‘A witty, literate and engaging storyteller’, Shonaleigh is a drut’syla, a storyteller in the Jewish tradition, travelling globally and drawing on her Yiddish, English and European roots to bring us the world of myth, history and imagination.

Doors open at 7pm and the storytelling begins at 7.30pm. The evening is suitable for adults and older children. Tickets are £7 / £6 members / £5 concessions available from Bridport Arts Centre box office 01308 424204 and via the website bridport-arts.com
